Creating Space for Clarity
In recent weeks, I have been thinking a lot about the process of getting clear during times of confusion. It’s a part of the human life cycle to go through seasons where we don’t know the right answer or which path to choose, and it can create self-doubt when that murky gray feeling creeps in.
What I have learned about these periods of uncertainty is that creating space – both mental and physical - is imperative to finding the answers we are looking for.
I personally have gone through these seasons where I live one moment at a time, not knowing fully the answers but trusting my gut by taking life one step after the other. Intentionally creating space by distancing myself from the old and familiar – be it people, places, or ideas – naturally opens up room for the new and unseen. By stepping away from parts our past selves that are known, we open up the opportunity for something new to be born. That something new is the space I call clarity.
It is a fresh kind of certainty that grounds us, enlivens us, and gives us footing again to confidently move in the direction we want.
Some practical ways of creating space might include intentional times of solitude, journaling, meditating, decluttering, and walks in nature. It’s important not to minimize these small tasks because when done with purpose, they help to “air out the laundry” so to speak. And once that laundry is dry, inspiration and ideas more naturally come as they inform our decisions and next steps. It’s an exciting time of life when the answers finally present themselves to us.
How are you creating space in your life to pave the way for something new to unfold?
